Assistant Professor of Music - Choral/Music Education/Vocal Jazz Ensem MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time,tenure-track Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education to joinits nationally recognized choral, vocal jazz and music educationprograms. Candidates must possess a doctorate in choralmusic/conducting, music education, or other appropriately relatedterminal degree by the time of hire (EdD, PhD, or DMA).Sustained success in secondary school teaching is expected.Evidence of teaching and conducting at the college level ispreferred. Primary responsibilities include: directing one ofthe traditional choral ensembles; teaching undergraduate courses inmusic education; and directing OneVoice, Millikin's nationallyrecognized vocal jazz ensemble. A cogent vision forrecruitment through both personal and university ensembleperformances, maintenance and development of Millikin's annualVocal Jazz Festival and interaction with high school vocal programsis expected. Candidates demonstrating commitment to academicadvising, entrepreneurship, and community outreach will receivestrong consideration. Additional expectations includeuniversity service in the form of faculty governance andinvolvement with the campus community through attendance ofrecitals, concerts, workshops and festivals. Position begins August2019. Millikin University School of Music has been NASM accreditedsince 1934, with a vibrant community of 50 faculty and 214students, offering Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance, MusicEducation, Commercial Music, and Music Business, as well as aBachelor of Arts degree in Music.
