Job Description Process Technology Engineer Preferred Locations - Decatur, IL; Indianola, IA; Enderlin, ND; Bushnell, IL; Hutchison, KSThis is a full-time, exempt level positionPosition SummaryProtein Technology Center of Excellence is seeking a Principle level Technology Engineer.
The Technology Engineer will own the application of engineering principles to multiple facilities with tasks ranging from process design, evaluation and process improvement implementation focused on cost position improvements. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure protein plant process systems are designed, built, and operated at optimal levels.Essential Job Function: Display a dedication to lead, develop and support safety and promote a safety culture, while promoting continuous process safety improvements.Benchmark the location(s) versus internal and external best available technologies and drive improvements.Own project portfolio of 20-30 projects with budget of $30-60MM spanning 3-5 locations with potential impact to provide of $20MM annual OPDevelop and maintain a 5-year project portfolio to include capital budgeting, execution and to strike a balance between Cost Position Improvement and Productivity/Growth.Collaborate with the appropriate technology teams to ensure project alignment.Drive adoption of new process technologies through conducting research and leveraging knowledge and subject matter expertise.Lead the efforts by working within various plant operations and R&D teams to maximize protein processing performance and direct outcomes.Own the oversight and accountability of numerous plant operations teams in solving protein processing technical problems, as well as, the results that are expected from each plant location.Support multiple facilities in goal setting pertaining to mutually agreed upon goals.Accountable to work closely with company subject matter experts (SMEs) on the implementation of innovative approaches to plant operation and maintenance for solutions and effectively lead those in a matrixed environment.Act as a subject matter expert (SME) resource for plant process engineers through coaching, mentoring, and conducting training sessions.Job will require approximately 25% travel across the United States.Required Skills:Ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams.Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others.Strong operational and technical knowledge of a variety of process unit operations critical to protein processing.
Some examples include extraction, extrusion, evaporation, drying, grinding and centrifugation.Experience with optimization/analytical processes and tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and management.Working knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives.Willingness to work and collaborate with multiple plant operations teams.Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently while traveling to remote plant locations.High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology or related field.Required Experience:Minimum 6 years' experience with plant process systems.Relocation assistance is available with this position.This position offers a complete benefit package, including 401K/ESOP, pension, health, life and dental insurance.
