Work For in 2025. Job Summary The Production Engineer Internship at
ADM provides students a hands-on experience in a fast-paced
manufacturing environment. Interns will work closely with
engineers, supervisors, and production teams to support process
improvements, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure safe,
high-quality production. This role is ideal for students pursuing
degrees in engineering who want exposure to real-world
manufacturing challenges. Responsibilities: Manage assigned
projects for Summer 2026, with assistance from hiring manager and
other mill colleagues. Shadow production engineers, operators and
supervisors to gain exposure to plant operations, scheduling, and
resource management. Assist with monitoring and optimizing daily
production operations to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends
and areas for improvement. Support continuous improvement projects
using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving for
production or equipment-related issues. Collaborate with
maintenance and engineering teams on equipment upgrades,
modifications, and reliability improvements. Help develop and
update process documentation, P&IDs, standard operating
procedures (SOPs), etc. Contribute to quality assurance initiatives
by assisting with inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
Participate in/observe equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and
reliability initiatives. Assist with safety audits and contribute
to continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.
Participate in facility housekeeping to maintain safe and efficient
working conditions. Participate in and/or lead safety meetings,
training sessions, and ops briefings. Present findings, project
results, and recommendations to engineering leadership at the
conclusion of the internship. Internship Program Requirements:
Education : Pursuing a 4-year degree in Chemical, Biological or
Mechanical Engineering or a related degree field. GPA : Minimum GPA
of 2.8 (3.0 GPA preferred). Work visa sponsorship is not available
for this role. Transportation: Interns must have their own reliable
transportation to and from work. Geographical Flexibility: Willing
to relocate to one of our ADM locations in North America.
Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is
required. Physical Requirements: This experience is physically
demanding, and suited for those who desire hands-on experience in
an operations setting. Some tasks may require lifting, the ability
to climb ladders, and working in confined spaces (including tanks
and vessels). Availability: Must be available for a summer
internship from mid-May to early August 2026. Work
