Transportation Procurement ManagerThe purpose of this role is to develop and implement effective regional procurement strategies, supplier relationship management and delivery of short term and long term financial plans. About the roleThe Transportation Procurement Manager will be responsible for strategic sourcing, negotiations, vendor risk management and driving continuous improvement to the Company's goals. You will define strategies to improve delivered price and creative capacity management ensuring longevity of a nimble Supply Chain. Through excellent leadership and communications skills, the NOAM Regional Category Manager will ensure that cross-functional business opportunities are actively embraced. They will be supervising a team of 4 to 6 procurement professionals and have oversight of $50-100mm in transportation spend. More specifically, you will:Develop and execute category strategic sourcing strategies, best practices, risk mitigation and appropriate capacity planning.Vigorous and dynamic supplier performance management targeting improved service execution, joint continuous improvement initiatives driving overall lower total cost.Manage all regional spend for the category negotiating through eRFI's and eRFP's. Develop selection criteria and create streamlined business processes.Research and analyze market data fundamentals providing information on category trends. Redirect category strategy when appropriate with thorough analytics and good understanding of regional market dynamics.Ensure compliance with all internal processes and approvals prior to renewals, new agreements and fleet purchases.Responsible for development and ownership of supplier relationships and manage agreed upon vendor KPI metrics.Recruiting, selecting, and developing Transportation Procurement employees to ensure the highest possible levels of capability, while contributing and adhering to the Group wide principles for Talent Management.Develop budget pricing forecasts and the strategy to achieve forecasts.Develop influential and positive NOAM stakeholder relationships across the group to ensure category buy-in.Ensure appropriate and robust commercial arrangements, lease tracks agreements and fleet sizing that meet the business requirements.Establish, lead and support cross-functional category sourcing teams.Ensure savings targets and reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.Challenge business requirements and specification where appropriate to deliver best value.Collaborate with Finance, Business, Sales, Manufacturing and Quality management to ensure common understanding of needs and alignment of procurement approach.Drive an innovative, lean & continuous improvement culture within supply chain and procurement demonstrating Tate & Lyle is a shipper of choice and preferred supplier.Exude a culture of honesty, integrity and trust in all business dealings both in and outside the organization. What you'll need to have to be successful in the role:Proven expertise in sourcing transportation, inclusive of operational experience.Proven ability to manage winning strategies in a monopolistic environment.Experience with Ocean and Trucking transportation modes is highly desirable for the role.Well-developed commercial mind-set and logistics market knowledge in the categories of ocean, rail freight procurement/operations, railcar fleet, first and last mile and 3rd party bulk transfer locations.Ability to coach, develop and advise cross functional sourcing team membersUnderstand and ability to successfully develop and manage stakeholder relationships.Proven track record of strategic procurement and category management with small, medium and large carriers/vendors.Self-starter, outcome-oriented individual with a proven track record of delivering savings targets by developing excellent stakeholder relationships both within and outside the organization.Track record of working successfully in cross functional teams to serve business needs, develop a compelling selling proposition, and negotiate to win-win contract agreements.Understand unique delivery requirements with determination and willingness to win customer accounts regardless of complexity.Experience managing a portfolio of $50-100mm+.Strong analytical and mathematical skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skill.Well-developed presentation skills.Ability to manage numerous competing priorities and deadline driven.A degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, International Trade or Engineering with consideration to years of experience.Systems experience with Oracle, SAP and rail freight billing practices would be advantageousWillingness to travel both domestic and international in support of Category and business unit requirements. LocationThis role is based from our Decatur, Illinois office. Although we are fully remote working until later this year, there will be an expectation to work from the office once Covid restrictions are lifted.
