POSITION DESCRIPTION: Partners with Chief External Relations
Officer to develop external relations strategy and manage the team
responsible for implementing it. Develops and implements a donor
engagement program; leads donor cultivation activities, including
research, donor communications, and leveraging Salesforce for donor
engagement. Leads, develops, and implements strategies for
identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals,
corporations, and foundations. Writes and edits communication
materials for distribution to donors. Maintains information on
selected donors and prospects, including contact reports in the
Salesforce CRM system. Contributes to content creation, either
writing or editing pieces for various Task Force audiences, both
external and internal.

partners in more than 150 countries to eliminate diseases, ensure
access to vaccines and essential medicines, and strengthen health

COMMUNICATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT BACKGROUND
The Task Force Communications & Development department advances the
strategic objectives of the organization by building a strong and
reputable brand, producing compelling stories and content about the
people we serve, and working closely with Task Force colleagues to
increase impact through engagement with donors, partners,
policymakers, employees, and other key audiences. The team is
responsible for Communications, Global and Federal Affairs,
Philanthropic Development, and supporting Task Force business
development objectives, working closely with other internal and
external stakeholders. The team includes the Chief External
Relations Officer, Global and Federal Affairs Director, Associate
Creative Director, two Communications and Development managers, and
a Digital Operations Specialist.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Deputy Director, Communications and Development works with the
Chief External Relations Officer to develop The Task Force's
external relations strategy and manage the team responsible for
implementing it. The role is ideal for a seasoned strategic thinker
with deep expertise in global health and development, who thrives
on guiding teams who deliver measurable results, and have fun while
doing it. The Deputy Director should have extensive experience in
fundraising and business development (with individuals,
foundations, corporations, and government), is creative and
collaborative, is highly organized and skilled with systems and
processes, and enjoys collaborating with colleagues across the
organization to advance new ideas and solve challenges.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic leadership: Collaborates with Chief External Relations
Officer, other Task Force leaders, and the communications and
development team to implement an external relations strategy that
positions The Task Force's global health expertise and engages key
audiences.
Management: Manages a creative, fast-paced team with time-sensitive
deadlines and values effective project management and leaders who
coach, contribute, and model Task Force values of inclusion and
belonging.
Development: Develops and implements a donor engagement program;
leads donor cultivation activities, including research, donor
communications, and leveraging Salesforce for donor engagement.
Leads, develops, and implements strategies for identifying,

Content creation: Contributes to content creation, either writing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years working in the global health and
development sector, with a focus on communications and
development
Proven fundraising experience, both with philanthropic donors and
institutions (government, foundation, and corporate)
5+ years of management experience, building and guiding teams to
achieve measurable results
Project management experience - coordinating projects across a
team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in or volunteering in low- and middle-income
countries
Master's degree in a related field
TRAVEL: 10% domestic and international travel
