Overview
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic studies and
assists with therapeutic administrations utilizing
radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with Carle
policies and procedures and IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety
regulations.
Qualifications
Certifications: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine
- Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); Basic Life Support
(BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered
in Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) within 1 year - Varies;
Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) within 1 year -
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), Education:
Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; College Diploma:
Related Field, Work Experience:
Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic studies and radiopharmaceutical therapeutic
administration by utilizing Nuc Med and/or PED/CT equipment by
acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting
bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department
protocols. Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam.
Administers IV radiopharmaceuticals by means of existing IV line or
by performing veni-puncture and placing IV line. Screens the
patient for possibility of pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing
if applicable. Responsible to review radiology orders for
completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting
clinical data for medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire
additional information if needed from the patient, ordering
provider and/or Radiologist. Demonstrates acceptable imaging
quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and
alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and
completeness. Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and
provides necessary medical history and information for Radiologist
interpretation. Utilizes the web servers and email systems to send
exams for preliminary readings after hours. Responsible for
maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including
maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.
Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs
in a timely manner. Performs diagnostic studies by utilizing Nuc

studies and assists in radiopharmaceutical therapeutic
administration as outlined in exam protocols listed in Nuclear
Medicine procedure manual. Reviews studies with the radiologist
when appropriate. Administers IV radiopharmaceuticals by means of
existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and placing IV
line. Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and
accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for
medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire additional information if
needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist.
Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing

for accuracy, quality and completeness. Transfers and verifies
images data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and
information for Radiologist interpretation. Utilizes the RIS for
proper scheduling, billing and coding procedures. Responsible for
maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including
maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $32.39per hour -
$55.71per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum
range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The
actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a
variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's
experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts
