Job Summary and Qualifications The Radiology Tech conducts radiologic procedures to provide data to assist in the diagnosis of patients. Behavioral characteristics: - Effective communicator, mentally alert, dependable, reliable, conscientious, tactful, flexible, and cooperative - Possesses integrity, uses good judgment and shows initiative - Has the ability to function well while multi-tasking and making decisions in stressful situations - Demonstrates commitment, safety, honesty, integrity and compassion - Ability to work and communicate with all patients, family members, physicians and employees - Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality - Works with minimal supervision, displaying good judgment, self-motivation, initiative, and organization skills - Ability to work well and communicate with all staff - Demonstrates behaviors that are relative to the HCA Mission and Values Statement: “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” Position responsibilities: - Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body - Under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs x-ray therapy on patients - Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns - Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices - May administer Oral, Rectal and IV contrast materials - Operates stationary equipment and/or portable equipment used in the Emergency Department, Operating Room and at patient bedside - Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation and PACS systems - Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities - Orients and mentors new staff members - Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff - Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material - Assists with transporting patients - Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required - Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department - Attend Code of Conduct training course annually - Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct - Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct - Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates) - Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy What qualifications you will need: Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience: - Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers. - ARRT Certification and BLS certification must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital - Current IN state licensure or permit to practice medical imagining - Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. - Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs. Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience: - At least one year experience as a radiology tech preferred.
