Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit
night shift position requiring a current IL RN license and
proficiency in telemetry, rapid response, and Cerner EMR.
Responsibilities - Work in the Neuro Med/Surg unit of an acute care
hospital - Level II Trauma Center with an average daily census of
32 patients - Night shift schedule with options for 3x12 or 4x12
hour shifts (18:00-06:30) - Required to work every other weekend -
Floating within scope to similar units as needed - Patient
population includes neuro and med/surg cases such as CVA, pre/post
neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and trauma brain injuries -
Handles medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal,
IV, psychiatric, and respiratory cases - Uses Cerner for charting -
Role includes patient care involving isolation precautions and
wound vac management - No on-call responsibilities - Parking permit
is provided at no cost - Hospital uses royal blue scrubs - Teaching
hospital and Level II trauma experience preferred - Up to 5 days of
requested time off will be considered - Local candidates are
accepted without a radius restriction Requirements - Active IL RN
license required at time of application - Minimum 2 years of recent
Med/Surg and neuro nursing experience - Current BLS and NIHSS
certifications required - Experience with telemetry and remote
cardiac monitoring - Experience in rapid response team, colostomy
and feeding tube care, central and peripheral lines, blood product
administration, starting IVs, and surgical drains - Proficiency
with common medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA - Skill
in trach management, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP,
non-invasive airway management, and continuous bladder irrigation -
Cerner EMR experience required - First-time travelers are not
