Experience: Minimum 1 year of ICU experience, Level I trauma
experience preferred License: Active Illinois license or

Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: ICU experience, ability to
titrate drips Description: This position involves providing care in
a surgical intensive care unit. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are
1:2, but may vary from 1:1 or 1:3 depending on patient acuity.
Common diagnoses include post-surgical patients, open abdomens,
multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases. Nurses are required to
titrate drips, including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and
insulin. Charge nurses are present on each shift, available to
assist as staffing allows. A house supervisor is available 24/7.
Nurse aides or patient care techs support the unit, with a typical
ratio of 1:10. Intensivist support is available in-house 24/7, with
telemedicine coverage after hours. Respiratory therapy services are
accessible 24/7, equipped with vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. There are
telemetry/monitor techs in the unit; nurses are responsible for
interpreting strips. The shifts run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
Weekend work is required, with six shifts in a six-week period.
Holiday work is required every other holiday. Floating to a lower
level of care may occur, with a full patient assignment provided.
No specific dress code is enforced for scrub colors. Unit-specific
orientation will be provided, including training on the electronic
