Job Description Merchandiser - Decatur, ILADM GrainThis is a
full time, exempt position. MAIN FUNCTION:We are looking for a
motivated rail trader and corn merchandiser to join the Eastern
Grain Group. Reports to VP Eastern Grain Group as part of the local
and regional merchandising team. The responsibilities of this
position will be trading rail corn into the Eastern destination
markets in conjunction with other traders on the team.
Accountability for the procurement and trading of corn to achieve
optimum financial results while building strong relationships with
customers, colleagues, and railroad personnel. The position is
responsible for handling of logistics, procuring freight rates,
accounting, daily P&L monitoring, and other customer related
issues. As an established member of the merchandising team, this
position requires a high level of strategic thinking, market

PERFORMED:
Daily focus and analysis of basis positions, freight positions,
spread positions, and profit & lossAnalyze and understand the
market conditions, prices, and trends in the local, national, and
global level and develops trading strategies accordingly.Maintain
price discovery and bid/offer to enhance risk management and
pricing.Preparation and analysis of month end reports and other
divisional month end requirementsStrategic seeking of new business
and arbitrage opportunities that profitably enhance company
assetsCommunicate effectively, build, and maintain relationships
with customers, colleagues, railroad personnel, and other
stakeholders in the industry.Resolve issues or disputes that may
arise during the rail trading processUnderstand customer
requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both
partiesExhibit organization and handle accounting related issues in
a timely manner to ensure excellent customer serviceWork to attain
positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across
divisions and responsibilitiesManage the profitability and
utilization of the Eastern Rail Group's private railcar
fleetCommunicate with ADM Rail Rates team and external railroads to
procure freight ratesUnderstand the significance of ADM owned
transportation (i.e. railcars, trucks and barges) and how to
enhance valueDevelop a working knowledge of freight spreads and
competitor activitiesUnderstand the importance of trading to
enhance the profitability of ADM owned assets through favorable
specs, timings, etc. and placing elevator needs above individual
goalsWork to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting
responsibility to defend them logicallyAggressively make outbound
phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information to and
from internal and external sourcesUnderstand margin and cash carry
calculations & their effect on commodity pricingUnderstand and has

throughout the yearKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: University degree in
agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting),
supplemented with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in country
elevator management or commodity merchandising in North America.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be
considered. Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk,
fast-paced work environment. Proven ability to assess risk and
exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated
negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and
understanding of the domestic and international trade. Proven
ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers. Individual must
be committed to corporate ethics policies and safety program.This
