Job Description Lab Technician (Science and Technology) - Decatur, ILThis is a full-time, non-exempt position.Job Description and Requirements:This position is responsible for assisting ongoing Science & Technology research projects. The individual will work very closely with scientists to support their research priorities, developing solutions and perform other tasks as needed.
This role involves performing analytical testing, wet chemistry procedure, recording results and report data to research scientist to execute team deliverables.The ideal candidate will maintain ADMs high standards for safety, environmental and quality programs. The candidate will have strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and proactively and the supports within S&T team.Detailed Job Responsibilities:Facilitate and ensure adherence to safety regulations, rules and sound practices in the labAs necessary, manage and lead all aspects of equipment operations, installation & maintenance, including cleaning and decontaminationCollecting, distributing and physical testing of samples. Ability to prepare and test product using standard laboratory equipment.Perform light maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipment to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.Support testing in scale up trials and or external research projects.Continually compares test results with standards as required to ensure data reliabilityRecording, interpreting, and maintaining ongoing records of test resultsManage samples storage & ensure proper organization of equipment and materials in the laboratoryEnsure safe working practice in research labs, pilot plants, and manufacturing facilities to meet or exceed safety goals.Work with scientists to deliver on projects deadlineEducation and Experience:B.S. in relevant area (e.g. science, chemistry) is preferred; other candidates may be considered based on relevant industry experienceDemonstrated ability to execute and interpret laboratory assaysWorking knowledge and familiar with laboratory instruments including viscometer, wet chemistry methodologies, texture analyzer and other instrument is beneficial conducting research trials preferredFamiliarity with conducting research trial is beneficialProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteDemonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communicationAbility to communicate effectively to a diverse teamThis position offers a complete benefit package, including 401K/ESOP, pension, health, life and dental insurance.
