Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW

To develop, direct and coordinate major projects that may involve both mechanical and electrical engineering components. Projects assigned to this position are of considerable variety and complexity and accomplished with minimal guidance

  • Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. This includes ensuring all project work is completed in accordance with safety policies.
  • Determines customers needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.
  • Establishes Project Team, facilitates and documents Project team meetings.
  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing Department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.
  • Manages project costs, project scheduling and supplying pertinent communication for multiple highly complex and wide-ranging engineering projects, which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.
  • Completes Project Closeout
  • Provides project management training and support to develop skills of less-experienced members of the Engineering department.
  • Implementation of standardization & CI initiatives
  • Provide process support of key manufacturing processes across plants
  • Identify and lead implementation of cost takeout opportunities through waste reduction, material substitutions and equipment modifications.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to achieve business objectives including participation in teams within the business and functional areas
  • Assist in generating reporting tools and progress reporting for assigned business area
  • Support the efforts of Plant Engineering and Plant Departments in associated projects and teams
  • Partner in analyzing and recommending changes in technology to better position the business
  • Responsible for execution of assigned CI projects and overall delivery of metric improvement and benefits for the assigned business, resulting in the achievement of strategic business objectives and goals; also responsible for identifying projects that may lead to better processes, quality & savings
  • Implement various process standards such as: start-up and shut down, troubleshooting techniques, machine standard operating conditions, QA standards
  • Able to generate and implement critical manufacturing technology standards of operation
  • Able to generate and implement critical operational methods or standard work for operators to follow
  • Attainment of KPI goals, cost savings, etc. as defined by plant operational efficiencies and output

  • 7+ years professional experience in a manufacturing organization
  • Bachelors degree is required, mechanical engineering preferred
  • Training and experience in Lean methodologies, Black/Green belt and Kaizens preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve across a variety of business processes
  • Thorough understanding of business processes and process improvement
  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to achieve results through teams and perform effectively in a diverse work group
  • Ability to generate new ideas
  • Works proficiently with Microsoft Office with an aptitude for learning additional computer applications
