Apprentice Lineman and future Journeyman Lineman your role in
creating Ameren's customer experience and driving customer

cutting edge electric grid technologies and will experience a

professionally.Ameren Illinois is a regulated electric and gas
delivery company based in Collinsville, Illinois. Our service
territory spans 43,700 square miles, or about three-quarters of the
state. Every day, we deliver electricity to 1.2 million electric
and 812,000 natural gas customers in more than 1,200 communities in
central and southern Illinois.Duties:
- Under immediate supervision, working on a line construction or
maintenance crew in the capacity of an apprentice for advancement
to Journeyman Lineman
- Advance in such work in accordance with an orderly program,
initially on unenergized circuits, and later on work on energized
circuits ranging progressively from lower to maximum voltage
- Perform such work at first under the leadership of a Crew
Leader or Line Foreman, and later independently after ability to
perform each phase of the work skillfully and safely has been
demonstrated; and to do similar and less skilled work as
assigned.
- Load and unload equipment, material, job site debris and
maintain housekeeping according to Ameren's safety standards and
procedures
- Dig trenches and holes in an ergonomically safe manner
- Perform construction work in the field, in all weather
conditions, throughout the service territory
- Use and maintain various hand and power tools and
equipment
- Must work in a team environmentMust work safely at all times as
defined by Ameren's safety standards and procedures
- Develop and maintain familiarity with the operation and
maintenance of the boom truck, digger and bucket truck and various
pulling units
- Assist in digging holes and setting poles
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle
- Operate equipment and hydraulic tamp
- Prepare materials for each project including cutouts, arrestors
and transformers
- Load and unload vehicles
- Prepare vehicles for daily projects
- Clean cover up materials, repair, clean and inspect tools on
the vehicles
- Assist with material stocking, pulling of stock for
projects
- Must not be afraid of heights
- Ability to maintain the security of confidential information
- Stay abreast of advances in technologyQualifications:
- As a condition of acceptance on this job, candidates who are
otherwise qualified will be required to take and pass the
appropriate State/Federal driver's licensing requirements, medical
testing and drug screening, the Construction and Skilled Trades
(CAST) test and the company apprentice Lineman Evaluations. [Note:

- This position is covered by the representative IBEW Local
bargaining agreement.
- This position requires a 25 mile residency requirement
- This position may be required to work more than 40 hours per
week and is subject to emergency storm work
