Electrical Engineer- Midwest, US
This is an exempt level position.Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer position is part of the Electrical group within the Global Utilities Center of Excellence and will be tasked within the North American geographic region. Initial assignment is planned as support for the electrical studies program. The engineer will assist in reviewing electrical systems. ADM Decatur, IL complex, however other North American regions may be considered. This Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise in support of electrical system projects including repair, modernization, safety and operational improvement, capital planning,

Successful candidate will have strong understanding of and experience with electrical distribution equipment, service transformers, switchgear, switchboard, motor control centers, distribution system layout, and lighting.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Support arc-flash remediation projects from scope inception to active construction.
  • Engineer and implement solutions to correct deficiencies identified from system studies.
  • Perform as part of a capital project development and design review team.
  • Generate equipment specification.
  • Evaluate system/equipment failures and collaborate to determine root cause.
  • Perform field work facilitating and advising internal company and contracted personnel.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple fields and different levels of management.
  • Provide technical support and training to others when necessary.
  • Provide update and documentation to Project Lead and Manager of Electrical Services.
  • Will routinely work around electrical systems with high available fault currents, high (arc) incident energy, and shock potential. Critical Knowledge:
    • Electrical power distribution and design.
    • National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
    • Solid understanding of common electrical systems drawings and documentation, such as electrical plans and elevations, conduit and cable schedules, one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts and details, electrical panel schedules, wiring and motor-control diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, lighting plans, specification sheets, and motor lists.
    • BSEE, Journeyman, or Master Electrician license is preferred but not required.
    • 5+ years of experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Experience with SKM PowerTools software preferred but not required. Critical Skills:

      • Well-developed independent judgment and problem solving.
      • Work effectively as part of team or independently.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to effectively prioritize multiple ongoing tasks.
      • Continuous process improvement mentality.
      • Task oriented and self-motivated, able to function without direct supervision. Critical Abilities:
        • Tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through constricted spaces.
        • Perform overnight travel. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
